Platelet Agitator

A Platelet Agitator is a specialized medical device used to store and maintain platelets under controlled conditions in blood banks, hospitals, and laboratories. Platelets are a vital component of blood required for clotting, and they must be stored at a constant temperature of around 20–24°C with continuous gentle agitation to remain viable and effective for transfusion.

The primary function of a platelet agitator is to provide uniform and continuous movement to platelet bags, ensuring proper oxygen exchange and preventing platelet aggregation. Without agitation, platelets can lose their functionality and become unsuitable for medical use. This makes the device essential for maintaining the quality and shelf life of stored platelets.

Platelet agitators are typically used in combination with a platelet incubator, which controls the temperature, while the agitator ensures constant motion. These devices are designed with flatbed trays or shelves that move in a horizontal or circular pattern, allowing multiple platelet bags to be stored simultaneously. Advanced models come with digital displays, alarms, and monitoring systems to ensure precise operation and alert users in case of deviations.
